Semiglutide
What Is It?

Semaglutide is a medication simulates a natural hormone (GLP-1), encouraging the body to release more insulin following meals. It is primarily used for diabetes management can aid in weight loss by reducing appetite. As a glucagon-like peptide- (GLP-1) receptor agonist, a phase 3 clinical trial in 2021 demonstrated that weekly injections of .4 milligrams of semaglutide resulted in an average weight loss of 14.9% after 68 weeks, compared to just 2.4% with a placebo, among individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher.

Who Qualifies for the Weightloss Program?

  • BMI of 27 with comorbidities

  • BMI greater than 30

Contraindications for Program 

  • Personal OR family history of medullary thyroid cancer

  • Patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2

  • Known hypersensitivity to semiglutide

  • Pregnancy - men and women should stop using semaglutide 2 months before planning to become pregnant. Alternative medicine to control diabetes should be reviewed with a physician 

  • Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis

  • History of pancreatitis

  • History of gallbladder disease

How Does The Program Work?

Consultation

Your consultation will commence with a discussion with our medical director. Please note that there is an additional fee of $100, payable at the time of the consultation. The medical director will review the necessary lab results, which you will need to obtain from your primary care and provide to us. Additionally, the director will address potential side effects, the weight loss protocol, and your comprehensive medical history to ensure your safety in the program, while also discussing your weight loss objectives.

Prove Competency in Self-Injections & Pick Up Your Prefilled Syringes

You will meet with a registered nurse (RN) who will assess your ability to self-administer the Semaglutide injection. Upon demonstrating competency, RN will provide you with four pre-filled syringes containing your prescribed dosage for weekly self-injection at home. Furthermore, you will receive the necessary supplies including alcohol swabs and a bandaid if needed, sufficient for four-week period.

Monthly Weigh In And Dosage Adjustment

You will have monthly consultations with the RN to conduct a weigh-in, review your, discuss goals, identify any barriers, address symptoms, and address any other you may have. If your treatment is progressing effectively, you will be provided with an additional month’s supply of injections for self-administration. This process will be maintained until you successfully reach weight loss goal.
